Disco

    disco

Well. I am not sure where to start today. Disco huh? Bold choice. Thankfully Lil went first so we didn’t have to suffer any longer than necessary wondering what butchery (yes it’s a word) would come out of her mouth tonight. I was not disappointed. She was not the best in my opinion. No. we’ll get to that in a bit. She was most decidedly the worse. Sorry Lil.

After much thought and hand wringing I have come to the conclusion that Danny is most definitely dead to me. I really cannot pinpoint why. Somewhere along the line he just fell out with me. It’s probably not him. I think it’s me. We started out gleeful enough, but some time after week 3 and numerous glasses were changed out for even more colourful glasses, I just decided that he wasn’t the Idol for me. I don’t think that I have to go into a wordy diatribe about Allison’s choice of outfit now do I? Looked like latex to me. I don’t even want to think about how they got that thing on her, so I will just gaze out into oblivion and think happy thoughts instead. I also don’t feel that little Allison delivered the goods tonight. I really don’t, even though she definitely has some serious singing chops, tonight she also fell short.

I guess it could have been the genre. Disco can really go either way, fantastically cheesy and fluffy. Or the other extreme of tragic, stale, oh so wrong song choice and heinous wailing. We didn’t really have wailing, well not really, but the song choices were  not great. Except for Kris.

Which brings us to my favourite of the night. Hands down for me once again it was Kris Allen. It was sheer brilliance doing an acoustic rendition of the Donna Summer disco classic, ‘She Works Hard for the Money’. Oh I enjoyed Adam so stop your fussing, but Kris was unique and current. And even though Adam will win this whole shebang, Kris has a fighting chance at the number two spot. So there. I will count the minutes until the results show. I suggest you do the same.

    That’s me then.

Last night was Idol night around here…and well, it was pretty much a train wreck. Yes, in my opinion it stink, stank, stunk. Only two of the contestants were good in my point of view, and I am sorry to say that Matt was not one of them. He’s in my faves. I like his tone and I think until last night, he had been steadily improving each week. The best performance for me, by far, was Kris. I really liked his rendition of ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’. Was it great? No. I think everyone fell short this week. But Kris is getting better week by week and he deserves a little recognition.

Yes, even the judges were not en pointe. They seemed to lose their cool quickly, which was enjoyable, to say the least. Paula once again seemed drunk and I think it’s time for her to a) fire the person responsible for layering the spackle onto her face because she’s starting to look like a clown. And b) fire the person responsible for the hideous outfits she’s been sporting lately. Oh wait, Paula probably dresses herself because she’s an artiste. Well, then she needs to let herself go, ASAP.

Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed Idol. I’m just not sure that letting the contestants choose their own songs was a wise decision. I can’t wait for tonight and the vote off. Anoop, dude, you need to be latered.

    That’s me then.
